The general rule to follow is to look at your urine when you go to the toilet. If it is a lighter color than champagne, then you are drinking enough, if not then you need to drink a little more.

Your water consumption also includes diluted drinks and caffeine drinks. However, you should really cut down on caffeine drinks as they really do the skin no good at all!

Eat Plenty of Fatty Acids

Fatty acids are found in oily fish such as salmon and tuna, and they really help to improve the complexion. Also adding flaxseed oil to the diet can also really help to improve your skins condition. You could add two tablespoons of flaxseed oil to potatoes each day in order to get the recommended portion into the body.

Wear Sun Screen!

Some people simply do not follow the warnings to cover up in the sun. Sun damage is one of the most common causes of skin problems and they can be caused by direct sunlight or by sunbeds. The suns rays can help to age the skin prematurely and there is a high risk of skin cancer if you do not protect yourself.

It is recommended that you use a sun screen with a protection factor of at least 18, and if you have freckles and light skin, you should aim for one that is even higher. It is not a joke and any burning of the skin can cause skin damage and make it look older than what it actually is.

Be Sure to Have a Cleansing Routine

If you create a cleansing routine for yourself, you are making sure that your skin is permanently clean. Dirty skin can cause all kinds of problems, so it is always best to keep it as clean as possible. Using the right products for your skin type is essential and people with oily skin should definitely stay away from oil based products. You should also check that you do not use any oil based cosmetics either, so it is always better to read the labels before you purchase anything.

Dry skin on the other hand needs plenty of moisture and tap water can often make the problem a lot worse. You will need a rich moisturizer if you want to clear up your skin, and often if you have a severe problem, oils are better than creams as they are usually made up of 80% oil and 20% water. This gives your skin maximum hydration and helps to keep it looking healthy.

It is always worth remembering to remove your make up before bed. Many women do not bother to do this as they think it will not do them any harm. However, they could not be more wrong as make up tends to clog up the pores and it can lead to an outbreak of blemishes and acne. So, it is always better to be safe than sorry!
